           Today, let us talk about: Predators Talk with Our Children!

1.         At Home

A.       Unfortunately, one of the most dangerous places can be behind closed doors. Today, broken homes are multiplying. Therefore, it leaves more room for a terrible mess to occur (step parents, boyfriends/girlfriends, babysitters).

B.      Parents, if you see your child (ren)’s behavior change abruptly….DO NOT IGNORE!  

C.      It is important to have a good line of communication with your child (ren)!

2.      At School/ Daycare

A.       It is important for your child to know who to contact in case of an emergency (911, your (the parent) phone number,

B.      Children should not stray away from their classmates and teacher.

C.      Children should keep their hands to themselves and know that NO ONE is allowed to touch their private areas.

D.      If the teacher is being inappropriate, it is to be reported to the principal right away.

3.      Technology

A.       Advantages

·        There are multiple ways to get in contact/keep up with your child. Computer, cell phones, etc.

·        Gps setting apps on cellphones to know where your child is going. \

·        Multiple ways to find help via social networks, email, phone, text.

B.      Disadvantages

·        It is crucial to keep tabs on which sites the child goes on.

·        Predators can persuade the child via social media to meet with them.

·        Predators can bully the child into doing inappropriate things (sending naked pics, giving out personal information, etc).

** Set a safety word between you and your child so that no one can trick them into leaving with them.

** Make sure to build a relationship with your child’s friend’s parents. Get to know the children your child hangs out with.

** Do not say “It will NEVER happen to my child” ….It can happen.

** Always have a back up plan. Better to be safe than sorry.
